Per WP:CAT, categories are for "essential—defining—characteristics of a topic". Sadly, this category is being assigned to topics merely because there is some negative material about Russia in the article. In this era of identity politics, I fear WP is being misused by those who misuse the category system. E.g., they say "so-and-so dislikes/fears Russia, so they must be 'Russia-phobic'." Since we can't distinguish 'phobias' from 'dislikes' from mere 'criticism' or from 'sentiment' the category canNOT be used within WP:CATEGORY guidelines. We should delete. – S. Totally agree. If I remembered how to initiate the process I'd start it now. Bangabandhu (talk) 18:26, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Srich32977 and Bangabandhu: Алексей Юрчак has been going around Wikipedia adding the category to basically everything that has some negative link to Russians. –Turaids (talk) 14:01, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes guys, I agree that this category is becoming a farce of itself. Why won't anyone talk about the destruction of the Russian people by the Soviet Union? The destruction of religious monuments and other relics to erase the Tsarist past in Russia and now we're seeing the Putin bots in full force here once again! Putin would be proud![edit]

Yeah, I'm sorry to say this, but Putin would be proud of this abomination of a category edited by his loyal henchmen and other apologists in the world today! You're going to say George Patton was "anti-Russian sentiment?" He was clearly and unequivocally opposed to the communist ideology of the Soviet Union and like many, was fearful of a Soviet takeover of the world, even more brutal than what the Nazis planned. But of course, facts mean nothing to RT and Sputnik brainwashed Putin supporters anywhere on the internet! Delete me! Ban me, in fact Russian Wikipedia includes Soviet crimes. Edvins Snore was disgusted with the blatant glorification of the Soviet Union's history and government by many in post-Soviet Russia and to put him here is a gross misunderstanding of "The Soviet Story" and its exposure of various crimes and other misdeeds committed by the Soviet Union from 1917-1991, which are too voluminous (sadly) to just ignore and put into the anti-Russian sentiment category. Yet another sad attempt by racist Putin supporters to rewrite history. 24.154.37.11 (talk) 02:23, 29 June 2020 (UTC) I think that making people aware of Soviet crimes should be as pro-Russian as one can get. Too bad you won't talk about the genocide of the Russian people by Lenin and Stalin and other Soviet leaders. Patchman123 (talk) 02:31, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
