Criteria for inclusion
[edit]What is the criteria for inclusion in this category? Is it buildings that are currently clubhouses? Buildings that were originally built as clubhouses? Buildings that were clubhouses at the time they were added to the NRHP? Buildings that were at anytime in their history clubhouses?
The problem that I see is that buildings often change their function over time... so there can be disagreement on how to categorize them. As an analogy... when categorizing a notable historical person who converted from Judaism to Christianity... how do we categorize them? By what they were at birth? By what they were at death? Both? This is often an issue of heated dispute when it comes to categorizing people on Wikipedia... while I don't think categorizing buildings will generate as much heat... the underlying difficulty, and the potential for disagreement is the same. It needs clarifying. Blueboar (talk) 16:56, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- In the case of the National Register of Historic Places categories, the distinction is always based on the historical use of the property. -McGhiever (talk) 23:44, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
