Someone explain to me why there are two lists? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.141.133.177 (talk • contribs) .

The top section is for categories that are listed in this category (i.e., subcategories). The second is for actual articles. Some of these institutions have categories, in which their actual pages are included. It does look sort of funny on this page, so perhaps a list would be a better solution. If you don't like the way it looks, feel free to make an article that serves this purpose, like List of land-grant universities. I hope this helps. btm talk 23:21, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Private Universities?

Is MIT really a land grant university? If so, that flies in the face of the intent of the land grant program which was to give working class students access to higher education. Apparently Cornell is a Land Grand Uni, but that doesn't make sense either. Paulgush 07:00, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
