Catriona (pronounced similar to "Katrina", or sometimes phonetically[dubiousdiscuss]) is a feminine given name in the English language. It is an Anglicisation of Caitríona and Catrìona, which are mutual to both the Irish and Scottish Gaelic languages respectively. Alternative albeit less common spellings include Caitrìona in Scottish Gaelic, and Catríona in Irish. All are Goidelic forms of the English Katherine, which is possibly derived from an earlier Greek name, meaning "pure".
