The Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) is an economic policy think-tank that was founded in 1999 by economists Dean Baker and Mark Weisbrot.[1] It has been described as both progressive[2] and left-leaning.[3][4] CEPR is based in Washington, DC.

Staff and contributors

Staff

Its staff includes Senior Research Associate Ha-Joon Chang,[5] a leading development economist, and Senior Economist Eileen Appelbaum,[6] formerly the Director of the Center for Women and Work at Rutgers University.[7] Other staff members include John Schmitt, as well as Deborah James and Alexander Main, who were former employees of the Government of Venezuela's Venezuela Information Office (VIO), where James was the Executive director of the VIO[8] and Main was an analyst.[9][10] James has also worked as the Global Economy Director at Global Exchange[11] and Director of the WTO Program at Public Citizen's Global Trade Watch, in which capacity she spoke at a UNCTAD public symposium on equality and sustainable development.[12]

Contributors

Its contributors include Advisory Board Members Joseph Stiglitz and Robert Solow,[13] Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences laureates.
