Chaku (Nepalese cuisine)

Chaku (Nepali:चाकु ) Made from concentrated sugarcane juice, jaggery, ghee and nuts are the basic ingredients. The mixture is cooked down until it is a more solid form. Then Usually pulled on a hook in a manner similar to making taffy and then cut into small rolls. Alternatively it may also be cooked in a shallow dish and cut into small diamond shaped tiles. Chaku may be eaten separately, or can also used in making Yomari (योमरी) dumplings .
Chaku is served by Nepalese with ghee and yam during the festival of Maghe Sankranti.
