Cheriyoor is a place situates on the banks of Kuppam River in Taliparamba in the Indian state of Kerala. Cheriyoor is part of Kuttiyeri village which belongs to Pariyaram Grama Panchayath in Kannur district.[1] Cheriyoor is the ancestral home of famous Malayalam-language poet and translator Kerala Varma Valiya Koil Thampuran (February 19, 1845 – 1914). His father Narayanan Namboothiri was a member of Mullappally illam in Cheriyoor.[citation needed] The major religious centers in this village are ancient Thalakodu Sree Krishna Temple, Sree Puthiya Kunnil Puthiya Bhagavathi Temple, Sree Dharma Sastha Mandiram and Cheriyoor Juma Mazjid. The 60-year-old Cheriyoor Govt. UP School was upgraded to a High School in 2014.
