Dino held open auditions in Kota Gede, Yogyakarta, which 400 girls attended.[4] From the auditions conducted several times, finally elected 9 as the initial formation, which later was named Cherrybelle.[5] Cherrybelle taken from two words of foreign languages, namely Cherry (cherry) and Belle (beautiful - France). With the philosophy that the personnel Cherrybelle is a teenage girl who "Sweet" and "Beautiful".
After several months of training, including occasional practices until 3 a.m. WIB (UTC+7)[4] and living together for a month to improve interpersonal relationships,[6] in August 2011 Cherry Belle released "Love is You", a mini-album with five tracks. The album was released as both a standard and deluxe edition. "Love is You" sold well.[4] The band's first single, "Dilema" ("Dilemma") was released soon after and received much airplay. Cherry Belle also performed regularly, both on television and in concert.[7] They also found numerous fans, who go by the nickname Twibies.[8]
