Chloris is a genus which contains the greenfinches. These were formerly grouped in the genus Carduelis.[1]


The genus name is from Ancient Greek khloris, the European greenfinch, from khloros, "green".[2]

The name Chloris was also previously used for the bird genus Parula.[citation needed]
