Conyza varia is a species of aster flowers that belong to the Asteraceae family. The species are endemic in Cape Verde.[1] The plant was discovered by Philip Barker Webb and was named by Hiram Wild in 1969. The plant is threatened today.[1]
Its local name is called marcelinha or marceline.[1] The plant plays a role in traditional medicine in which crushed leaves and the moist part are used to treat external inflammations.[2]
Distribution and ecology
Conyza varia are founded in the island of Santo Antão, São Vicente (no longer), São Nicolau, Fogo and Brava.[1]
