The Box Tree Moth (Cydalima perspectalis) is a species of moth of the family Crambidae. It is native to eastern Asia (Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, Russian Far East and India).[1] It is an introduced species in Europe, first recorded from Germany in 2006, and subsequently from Switzerland and the Netherlands in 2007; from France, Great Britain and Austria in 2009.[2][3][4] In 2011, the Box Tree Moth has been first recorded from Hungary,[5] Romania[6] and Turkey.[7] It is also known from Slovakia and Belgium.[8]

In 2013 it was found new to Denmark at several sites in the island of Sjælland.[citation needed]

The wingspan is 40–45 mm. There are two or three generations per year with adults on wing from April/May to September.[citation needed]

The larvae feed on the leaves and shoots of Buxus species.[citation needed] The species overwinters as an egg.[citation needed]
