D. K. Shivakumar is a politician from the Indian state of Karnataka. He belongs to the Vokkaliga community. He is the Congress party Member of the Legislative Assembly from Kanakapura consitituency. Currently he is a Minster for Energy in Karnataka.[1]

Political career

Shivakumar won the Kanakapura constituency during the elections in 2013 by pulling 1,00,007 votes against PGR Sindhia of JDS who received 68,583 votes. He was one of the richest candidates contesting the polls with declared wealth of Rs. 251 Crore (an increase of Rs. 176 Crore from 2008 elections.)[2][3] Currently a Cabinet Minister in Government of Karnataka for energy department portfolio.
