Deccan means Southern part in ancient India, south of the Satpura and Vindhya ranges. Deccan includes the east and west coasts and plains, the plateau and mountain ranges of the ancient Southern India.

Geography
- Deccan Plateau, is a plateau located between two mountain ranges, the Western Ghats and the Eastern Ghats, each of which rises from its respective nearby coastal plain. It is separated from the Gangetic plain to the north by the Satpura and Vindhya Ranges, which form its northern boundary. Note: Deccan Peninsula, is the peninsular India located south of the Satpura and Vindhya Ranges. It comprises the East and West Coasts and Plains, Eastern and Western Ghats and the Deccan Plateau.
