The Deputy Mayoress of Wigan is the title often given to the wife of the Deputy Mayor of Wigan. As the second lady in Wigan, their role often includes supporting the deputy mayor by attending engagements, and supporting the mayor and mayoress in their role as well as standing in their absence.

The role of the deputy mayoress is not as prominent in contrast to the mayoress, the role usually being seen at official public engagements and private engagements being attended by the deputy mayor. When the deputy mayor is a lady, their partner fills in an equivalent role of a second gentleman as the 'Deputy Mayors Consort'. If unmarried usually a family relative would take the office or a fellow councillor.

Current

The current Deputy Mayoress is 'Miss Janet Lumley' who took the office following the indirect election of the Deputy Mayor in 2012.

Title and Style

The official style of the current consort is: The Deputy Mayoress, Miss Janet Lumley. When addressing the incumbent deputy mayoress, they are referred to as Deputy Mayoress, or Madam Deputy Mayoress. When the incumbent is being presented, they are referred to as The Deputy Mayoress of Wigan [Name].

When the incumbent is a Lady Deputy Mayor, their consort is styled The Deputy Mayors Consort [Name] when presented, or is simply referred to by their name e.g. Mr or if also a councillor they are addressed as Councillor [Name].
