History

Jakob Dieffenbacher

In 1873 at the age of 26 locksmith Jakob Dieffenbacher set up his own business in Eppingen. By the 1880s hearths, ovens and safes were being produced, some of which can still be found in numerous credit institutions in the North Baden region.

The development in the beginning of the 20th century resulted in the need for a larger factory, as the company located at the center of the historic city became too small. A spacious factory for constructing hydraulic fruit, wine and oil presses was built. After the Second World War the Dieffenbacher group specialized in heavy equipment construction and could gain ground in the timber industry in 1954. The first chipboard and inlay presses were built. Furthermore, plywood facilities and pattern facilities to refine chipboards were adopted in the product range. In the mid-60’s Dieffenbacher developed a spotting press with pivoting slide plates and extendable desk. This type of press is the precursor of today’s tryout press. From 1960’s onwards Dieffenbacher built presses for fiber-reinforced polyester plastic processing and became the market leader of this branch in the 1970s. With the entry of Wolf-Gerd Dieffenbacher as managing director in 1980 the development to a complete system manufacturer and the internationalization of the company with numerous start-ups, acquisitions and worldwide expansion of sales offices and service-centers. The Dieffenbacher group is represented in 22 locations worldwide today.

Production

  • Production plants for wood-based panels: Complete turnkey production plants for wood-based panels such as PB, MDF, OSB, LVL as well as fiber insulation boards and doorskin, pellet plants and direct digital printing lines on wood grain boards surface coating. Core components are continuous presses (CPS) as well as cycle presses of single or multi-opening design.
  • Forming technology production plants: The product range of the Dieffenbacher Business Unit Forming includes systems for forming products made from plastics, metal and isotropic material.
  • Presses, plants and process engineering for plastics forming: Machines for manufacturing automotive components made from fiber-reinforced thermosetting and thermoplastic materials, such as SMC, D-SMC, LFT-D and GMT. The complete solutions include the press, automation, reworking of formed parts, extruders and tool exchange. Main customers are the automotive and automotive supply industry.
  • Presses, plants and automation systems for forming of stainless steel and steel: Dieffenbacher develops and produces complete press lines for sheet metal forming in all areas of industry. The product range includes automation systems and tolling technology. Main customers are the automotive and automotive supply industry as well as white goods and ceramics industries.
  • Isostatic high pressure press systems and processes: Cold and hot-isostatic presses and press lines, including the associated technology. These are used for manufacturing isotropic high-tech components that can handle extreme loadings in engine and medical technology as well as in aviation and space technology.
