Dipna Patel (born on 29 November) is a famous Indian actress and model, born in Atlanta. She was crowned as 2nd Runner Up at the I AM SHE – Miss Universe India 2012, a beauty pageant organized by Ms Sushmita Sen at Leonia Holistic Destination, Hyderabad. She also won the Femina Style Diva 2012 Season 1 and Miss Asia Pacific World India 2012. She made her feature film debut with Gujjubhai The Great, a comedy drama based on the superhit franchise of Gujjubhai stage-plays by Siddharth Randeria., directed by Ishaan Randeria.
Early life and Education
Dipna was born in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America and raised in Gujarat. Her father Satish Patel is a singer and businessman from Vadodara. Her mother Silpa Patel is a practitioner of Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism.[citation needed]
When living in Vadodara, she attended Navrachna Higher Secondary School and began participating in plays, beauty shows and pageants since then itself. She was excellent in sports (athletics, games, etc) also. She pursued her degree in fashion and apparel design from NIFT, Gandhinagar post[1] which she got a scholarship to the New York Film Academy in 2013.[citation needed]
Patel used to play garba almost every night of the famous Navratri festival in Vadodara until 2013, after which her professional engagements did not leave her time to do so.[2]
Career
Dipna started her glamour career in 2011 on winning Miss Citadel Pune (Yin Yang) title.[3] She also won the titles of Miss Asia Pacific World India 2012, Femina Style Diva 2012 1st Season and was 2nd Runner Up at the I AM She – Miss Universe India 2012.
Patel made her debut in movies with Ishaan Randeria directed Gujarati film 'Gujjubhai The Great, the highest grossing Gujarati film then. The film is a comedy drama based on the super-hit franchise of Gujjubhai stage-plays by Siddharth Randeria. The movie was shot for 8 weeks in Mumbai and 15 weeks in Gujarat.
She did photo-shoots and advertisements for various brands, a few to note are Kohinoor Basmati Rice, PUMA and Killer Jeans. She has even done anchoring for Magna Publications
