A Day in Culiacán is a Mexican film released on April 11, 2024. Written and directed by director Mario Alberto Siordia Millán, in collaboration with the Mexican production company “Te TocaCine”. With the participation of actors such as Armando Hernández as the protagonist, Pancho Estrada as a villain, Lulú Palazuelos as the wife of the character “el MM”, and other actors.
The film is entirely made in Sinaloa, the state of Mexico where all the events of the film take place.
Director Mario Siordia stated that this work is a story about a soldier who falls into a coma during a confrontation with criminals, and upon awakening discovers that his son and wife are with the criminal, so he will try to get his son out of the life of crime, leaving behind a great message about the father-son relationship, and addressing elements not previously touched upon..[1]
Synopsis
[edit]“A Day in Culiacán” is a black comedy that tells the story of a soldier (Armando Hernández) who, after falling into a coma during a confrontation with the powerful Capo “El MM” (Pancho Estrada), wakes up in 2023 to discover that his wife (Lulú Palazuelos) has married “El MM” and that his son Agustín (Efraín Félix) is now his lieutenant. Dejected by this news, the soldier sets himself the task of rescuing his son Agustín from the world of crime.
Premiere
[edit]"A Day in Culiacán" premiered on April 11 in Cinemex theaters located in Los Mochis and Culiacán, registering full houses in several theaters.[2]

[edit]The film was among the most viewed films nationwide during its showing in cinemas according to CANACINE[3]
This film is the result of the collaboration of a specialized technical team made up of Sinaloans such as the director, editor and scriptwriter of the film: Mario Siordia; the director of photography, Pablo Carrillo; the first assistant to the director of photography, María Sevilla, the sound director, Kevin H Villanueva, who were supported by a work team made up of students and former students of the Academic Unit in Communication Sciences of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa.[4]
