Early Life and Education

[edit]

In Hunter's early life in Winnetka, a suburb of Chicago, both performing and a passion for design played significant roles. His mother, an actress known for her role in the first national touring company of Man of La Mancha, and his father, a devoted fan of musical theater, influenced his upbringing. Hunter's involvement in Actors' Equity and the Screen Actors Guild began at the age of five, guided by his mother's encouragement. Subsequently, he pursued further studies in musical theater during his college years.[2]

Career

[edit]

Adam Hunter, known for his past performances in Broadway productions including Les Misérables (musical), Ragtime (musical)[3], The Lion King (musical) and Baz Luhrmann's La Bohème, continues to demonstrate a strong affinity for theatrical elements in his work[4] with "just the right dramatic touches within tailored yet inviting interiors"[5]. His use of custom made furnishings is a key component to the homes he designs.[6]

Adam Hunter has designed homes for celebrities such as actor Neil Patrick Harris[7], Mad Men's Christina Hendricks,[8] and Blink 182 drummer, Travis Barker.[9]

In 2019, Hunter was awarded the Gold List Honoree in Interior Design by Luxe Magazine.[10]

In 2021, Hunter's work gained recognition in the Wall Street Journal for his design of a residence located in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, commissioned by Steven Schwartz, the owner of aircraft brokerage firm Aerista. The property was listed for $24.95 million dollars.[11]

He has contributed design work to various companies including The Rug Company[12], Fromental[13][14], Studio Art & Leather[15], and has also developed his own luxury tech product, a marble phone charging dock known as STND.[16]

Adam Hunter's design aesthetic is often characterized as embodying "restrained drama"[17] and described as "fresh, livable, glamorous, and happy."[16][18]

His work has been featured in Architectural Digest[19][20], Vogue Magazine[21], Los Angeles Times[22], The Wall Street Journal. [23]
