Alec Michael Eberhardt (born November 9, 1992), better known as DJ Speedsick, is an American musician, record producer, and DJ. He is recognized for his high-energy productions blending elements of techno, noise, and industrial music, with a raw, DIY approach. His work has been featured by media outlets including Noisey, Bandcamp Daily, and Boomkat, and Nest HQ.[1][2][3]
He is known for his raw, DIY approach to music[4] that ranges from high bpm techno to extreme noise music, his active presence in the American underground spanning across numerous genres and scenes [5], and prolific release output that has been distributed on vinyl, cassette, and CD internationally. He has also worked as a remixer for artists such as American black metal band Portrayal of Guilt, designed album art for artists such as Brodinski, Candy, Matrixxman, and composed original scores for fashion brands Acne Studios, Camperlab, and Maison Margiela in collaboration with London-based photographer Jordan Hemingway[6][7][8].
Life
[edit]Eberhardt was born on November 9, 1992, in Brookfield, Wisconsin. At age nine, following his parents’ divorce, he moved to Merton, Wisconsin, with his mother and sister. Around this time, he was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and began treatment.
He graduated from Arrowhead High School in Hartland, Wisconsin, in 2011 and earned a BA in Film & Video from Columbia College Chicago in 2015.
In 2017, he relocated to Madison, Wisconsin from Chicago, seeking a quieter environment to focus on music. He returned to Chicago in 2021, where he currently resides.
