Early life

Sámano Bishop was born in El Oro, Guerrero on September 4, 1906.[1]

Education

Sámano Bishop graduated in 1927 from Arkansas College with a Bachelor of Arts. She later received her Master's Degree in Biological Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 1935. In 1939, she received her Doctorate in biological sciences also from UNAM.[1]

Career

Sámano Bishop taught from 1939 to 1976 at UNAM, teaching comparative embryology.[2]

She founded the Department of Embryology at the UNAM School of Medicine.[3]

Sámano Bishop headed the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Sciences of UNAM.[4]

The Mexican Society of Anatomy awarded Sámano Bishop its Dedication of the Academic Year in 2010.[5]
