Andro Cowperthwaite is an Actor/Writer, Singer/Songwriter, Music Producer, and Music Video Director.
Born and raised in Bootle, Liverpool, until he moved to London to train and graduated as an Actor at renowned drama school, Drama Centre London.
He is currently best known for being a vocalist in the Mercury Prize Nominated band, Jungle. Between 2014 - 2020.
Jungle have performed on notable TV shows such as “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”, “Late Night with Seth Myers”, Ellen Degeneres, Live with Jimmy Kimmel, and have headlined O2 Brixton Academy, Alexandra Palace and many other venues and performed live at festivals such as Coachella, Glastonbury, BBC 6 Music Festival, Secret Garden Party, Bestival and many more around the UK, Europe, US, Australia and parts of Asia.
Andro then left the band to continue his career as a Solo Artist and Actor. Selected and awarded funding by PRS Foundations scheme ‘Power Up’ to champion artists of colour in the music industry. With 2 EPs released independently, under his previous label signing; TenWest Group and more recently, Endowed Music Records (EP 1 - MORTAL & EP 2 - CONFLICT) with numerous radio support from BBC Sounds, BBC Music Introducing (Liverpool and London) and featured in magazines such as CLASH, Wonderland and many more.
Andro's first professional theatre credits were in two productions at the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he appeared as Page of Herodias in Salome, directed by Owen Horsley and Gannymede in Dido Queen of Carthage directed by Kimberley Sykes. He has then went on to perform on numerous stages in the UK, including but not limited to - Bridge Theatre London, in Sally Cookson’s adaptation of The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe as ensemble and understudying the role of Mr Tumnus. And playing the leading role of Dorian Gray, in a worldwide premier adaptation of Oscars Wildes (The Picture of Dorian Gray) DORIAN at Reading Rep Theatre, written by Owen Horsley and British playwright Phoebe Eclair Powell. Receiving 4 star reviews in Guardian and other press.
