Arthur Kyle Davis Jr. (– September 17, 1972)

Early life and education

Davis studied at the University of Virginia, receiving his bachelor's degree, master's degree and PhD from the university.[1]


Career

In 1924, Davis was made an assistant professor in English at the University of Virginia.[1] He became a full professor in 1928.[1]

Davis retired from active teaching in 1968.[1]

Writing career

In 1968, Davis published a descriptive checklist of Matthew Arnold's letters, having collected them for several years.[1]


Personal life

Davis died on September 17, 1972.[1] His funeral was held two days later at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Richmond.[1] He was buried in the University of Virginia Cemetery.[1]
