Bader Mohyi Eddin Jamous (Arabic: بدر محي الدين جاموس, romanized: Badr Muḥyī al-Dīn Jāmūs; born 1968) is a Syrian diplomat, politician, and former dentist. He is a leading figure in Syrian opposition politics, known for his extensive involvement with the Syrian National Council and the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces.[1]

Bader Mohyi Eddin Jamous was born in 1968 in al-Tal, a city in the Damascus Countryside governorate of Syria. His education began in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he completed his high school studies before moving to Moldova for higher education. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Dentistry from the International University in Moldova (ULIM) (1999) and a BA in International Relations (2012).[2]

After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Dentistry from the International University in Moldova (ULIM) in 1999, Bader Mohyi Eddin Jamous's career took a new direction. He assumed the role of an international relations advisor at ULIM, a position that allowed him to apply his educational background and linguistic skills to foster international cooperation. This transition from dentistry to academia and international relations marked a significant milestone in his professional journey.

Jamous served as the honorary consul of the Syrian Arab Republic in Moldova for ten years. He played a crucial role in strengthening educational and cultural ties between Syria and Moldova, including leading companies in Moldova that facilitated economic interactions between the two regions.

Jamous also initiated educational partnerships between ULIM and Syrian universities such as the University of Aleppo and Damascus University. These partnerships aimed to enhance academic exchanges and research collaborations.

Additionally, Jamous facilitated agreements for municipal and governmental cooperation. He successfully negotiated an agreement between the Moldovan Ministry of Education and the Syrian Ministry of Higher Education to harmonize educational standards and create opportunities for students. He also orchestrated an agreement between the Damascus International Fair and the Moldovan Exhibition Center to promote cultural and economic exchanges through international trade fairs and exhibitions.

Moreover, Jamous worked extensively as a coordinator of Arab-Moldovan relations, liaising with Arab embassies in Moldova. This role underscored his diplomatic acumen, facilitating dialogue and cooperation among stakeholders.[3] [4][5] [6]

2011: Jamous was one of the founding members of the Syrian National Council. Following its establishment, he was appointed as the head of its education office. His role involved overseeing educational policies and initiatives aimed at supporting the Syrian people amidst the ongoing conflict.

2012: Building on his experience with the Syrian National Council, Jamous played a pivotal role in the founding of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces. He served as the head of the national education commission within the coalition, where he continued his work to promote education and uphold the rights of Syrians, focusing on the youth and displaced populations. His efforts were crucial in maintaining the continuity of education for Syrian children affected by the war.

2013: His leadership qualities and dedication were recognized when he was elected as the Secretary General of the National Coalition. He held this position for two consecutive terms, during which he spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at unifying and strengthening the opposition's stance against the Syrian regime. 2014: Jamous was a key member of the delegation at the Geneva II Conference on Syria, held on 22 January. 2015-2017: He participated in the Riyadh I and Riyadh II conferences, which were crucial in shaping the future strategy of the Syrian opposition. At Riyadh II, he was not only a participant but also served on the preparatory committee, playing a significant role in setting the agenda and objectives of the conference. His contributions were pivotal in the election of the High Negotiation Commission, where he was a member and later led the external relations committee.

2018: Recognizing his diplomatic skills and in-depth understanding of international relations, Jamous was elected vice president of the National Coalition, where he continued to influence the opposition's policies and international negotiations.

2022: His extensive experience and leadership culminated in his election as the president of the Syrian Negotiation Commission. In this capacity, Jamous has visited numerous Arab and European countries, engaging with parliamentarians and politicians to advocate for a revitalized political process based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254.

Throughout his political career, Jamous has consistently worked towards promoting unity among opposition forces and seeking international support to bring about a peaceful resolution to the Syrian conflict.
