BallisticNG is a racing video game developed and published by Neognosis, currently their only game. It was originally released in early access on 31 May 2016, and released proper on 14 December 2018[1] for personal computers running Microsoft Windows, MacOS and Linux. A Nintendo Switch port was planned but was cancelled in 2023 due to the controversy surrounding Unity's runtime fees.

The game takes place in 2159, where players compete in the Anti Gravity League by piloting one of a variety of anti-gravity ships on tracks around the world. The game takes heavy inspiration from the Wipeout series, specifically Wipeout 2097 and Wipeout 3, for its aesthetics, music and gameplay; it is presented in a low poly style resembling them. The game has paid Downloadable Content, which add new tracks and ship skins. The game has received positive reviews.

Gameplay

[edit]

BallisticNG is a racing game set in 2159, where players in the game's main campaign compete in the Anti Gravity League (AGL). Players can also compete in the Aster League and various leagues hosted by the team Barracuda. The game allows the player to pilot one of a selection of ships on tracks around the world. There are sixteen teams in the AGL with a ship each (With the exception of Nexus, which has two and Barracuda, which has three). Each ship has different stats, making them act different to each other. Players can obtain and use a variety of weapons and power-ups by flying over special pads, including shields, missiles, cannons, rockets, mines and temporary autopilots, which can either aid the user or disrupt competitors.

BallisticNG's tracks are located around the world in futuristic versions of countries like Spain, Japan, the United States and Russia. A variety of special tracks for other leagues and non-campaign extra tracks are also available. The game supports both local split-screen multiplayer and online multiplayer through Steam. It has full Steam Workshop support for the addition of player-designed ships and tracks.
