Silos, defined as industrial storage structures around the world, are the 19th largest industrial storage silos in the world. Since the century, it has become widespread and functioned as a warehouse for different products such as food, seeds, feed, mines, and chemicals.

The area where the silos are located, 19. at the end of the century, it was opened to industrial buildings to meet the increasing energy needs of the city. Since the 1930s, it has been used as a storage area by private oil companies; for this purpose, silo structures of different sizes have been placed in the region at different periods.

Barred Silos, which is one of the oldest storage facilities in existence in Turkey, have become a part of the collective memory over time.

After losing their functions, the Barred Silos, which were abandoned to their fate, were brought to Istanbul as the new culture, art, and life focus of the Bosphorus in 2024 after the restoration and re-functioning works carried out by IMM Heritage by the principles of universal protection.

The new star of the city, Barred Silos, which has an area of 20,000 square meters, is open to the public with its multi-purpose units such as Digital Arts Museum, Nature and Science Museum, Library, Workshop, Stage, Event Space, Restaurant, Cafe, Children's and Art Center.
