Christian Saldert, born in 1977 in Gothenburg, is a Swedish painter, video artist and actor based in Helsinki.
Educated in the Central Saint Martins in London (BFA) and The Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm (MFA), Christian Saldert works with painting and video as his main medium. Saldert’s artistic practice is an immaculate conceptual and fictional composition process paying tribute to the tradition of painting. By using theoretical references of Lettrisme and the forgotten visual fragments, he aims to simulate and visualize how information is communicated and disseminated.
Saldert works with various collaborations. Recent solo exhibitions include The Window Paris; Helsinki Central Library Oodi; House of the Arts, Turku; Kunsthalle Porvoo & Riksarkivet, Stockholm.
Saldert'¨s most recent work includes acting in a supporting role for Estonia (2023) TV Series, World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival TIFF and for the Golden Bear nominated (2018) Toppen av Ingenting / The Real Estate, World Premiere at 68th Berlinale Film Festival.
Other recent commissions include music video direction, album cover design, artwork creation and live video performance for Markus Krunegård. Saldert has exhibited in various group exhibitions worldwide.
