[edit]In 2023, during the buildup for the 2024 Libertarian primaries, caucus founder and chairman Jonathan Casey engaged in a debate on Reason with F.H. Buckley, a law professor at George Mason University.[4] The debate centered around the National divorce, a proposed breakup of the United States into two countries, one Republican, and another Democratic.[4] Buckley argued the affirmative while Casey argued the negative.[4]
The Caucus is closely affiliated with the candidacy of Chase Oliver during the primaries as a counterweight to the growing influence of the Mises Caucus.[5][6] The Caucus denounced efforts by RFK Jr. and Donald Trump to seek the Libertarian nomination, stating that neither align with libertarian values, and that by inviting them to speak at the convention would poach voters away from the Libertarian party.[7]

[edit]The Classical Liberal Caucus platforms states they were founded due to the increased partisan divide between the Democrats and Republicans which they claim has alienated the centrist core of American voters. The Caucus argues that the ideology of Classical Liberalism appeals to the majority of Americans across the political divide, and therefore the Libertarian party should adopt Classical Liberal positions to represent to this demographic.[8][non-primary source needed]
