violent crime in long Island dates back to 1996 when human remains washed up on Fire Island police investigated it as a homicide but did not believe there would be more bodies in the future. A year later when the case became cold a black women with a peach tattoo was found dumped in a Rubbermaid container in Hempstead Lake State Park that case also went cold. they did not find any more bodies until multiple bodies showed up in Manorville and Moriches between 2002 & 2004. The bodies found in Manorville were later linked to other bodies in 2011. police began looking into a possible serial killer but later ruled it out however they became concerned about long island having a crime problem due to the amount of burglars that were unrelated to the bodies.

Long Island crime problem became apparent in 2010 when police discovered 4 bodies along Ocean Parkway prior to the discovery of the bodies they were actually looking for a missing escort. when police returned in 2011 they discoved additional remains of the bodies found in Manorvile and the women found in Fire Island in 1996. They also found a toddler that was linked to the women found in Hempstead in 1997. The missing escort was found in 2011 there have been debates as to whether she is a victim. In 2023 police arrested a guy in Massapequa and charged him with some of these murders but the rest are currently under investigation.

There are also numerous missing persons on long Island. Some of them were ruled out against the unidentified victims on the ocean parkway. There have been a possibility of Abduction in most of these cases. Some of the most notble missing people on long Island went missing before 1996. In 2024 there are 140 missing persons in Long Island

Tina Elizabeth Fogila

Tina fogila lived in Brentwood with her parents and was last seen at hammerheads music venue in February 1982. She worked as a visiting nurse and was also dating a fellow. When she never came home her family became nervous and filed a missing persons report and her body was found later that evening on the Sagtikos State Parkway. Detectives found her in multiple garbage bags.

Norine Higuchi Brown

Norine brown went missing in December 1990 in New Hyde Park. She went to the grocery store to buy ingredients for cookies and never returned. The following day her car was found abandoned with presents in the trunk. There have been rumors that she was seen arguing with a group of men the night she went missing.
