David (Dave) Howell is an English eSports Gamer and Pokémon Trading Card Game player. When it comes to Pokémon, he is best known for winning the City Championship in Assen in the Netherlands in 2009[1] and the Classic Deck Masters Division of the Trading Card Championships (TCC) at the 2022 Pokémon World Championships in London.
However Dave has won multiple Gaming / eSports tournaments in various different titles and genres, in both solo and team events.
Pokémon TCG Career
[edit]Dave is regarded by many as an execptional competitor in the Pokémon scene and often reaches the later stages of both TCG and Video Gaming Tournaments. He made his debut on the International stage in 2004 by finishing 4th in the Junior Division of the 2004 Pokémon City Championships losing to Arthur Hobbs (2004, 3rd place) in the Bronze Place Decider Match. Since then Dave has competed in many different Pokémon Tournaments, both locally and Internationally. He was a Competitor in 2008 at the Pokémon World Championships in Orlando, Florida but went out in the early rounds. However, it was at that Championships that he picked up the card of his favourite Pokémon, Scyther, which he then used in his Winning deck in the Pokémon City Championship in 2009.
In 2022, Dave finally earned an invitation to the 2022 Pokémon World Championships, at the ExCel in London, to compete as a Trading Card Game player.
In August 2022 at the Pokemon 2022 World Championship[2], Dave won the Classic Deck Master Division Pokémon World Championship, a tournament for Classic Card-Set Decks to be used, as opposed to the selected 2021-22 Standard format, which used all cards from Sword & Shield onward. He went on a flawless run during the tournament, defeating Yochi Hizuma (2010), Jeff Hansen (2019) and Jacques Croyant (2021) in the early rounds, and then Amos Christoffsen (2007, 2009, 2014) and Pedro De La Souza (2009, 2010, 2015, 2019, 2020) in the semifinals and finals respectively.

[edit]Alongside Pokémon TCG, Dave is an avid gamer and eSports Competitor and has multiple accomplishments across various games, spanning several genres, including Pokémon as mentioned above.
Dave's most notable gaming accomplishments are as follows:
- European Invitational FIFA23 eSports Tournament (Germany) - Winner (2023) (Senior Tournament)
- Overwatch Calling All Heroes - Winner (2023) - Part of Faeble Rising[3]
- Pokémon Battle League: European Virtual Championships - Winner (2010)
- World of Warcraft - Server First of all Burning Crusade Raiding Content including EU 3rd Kil'Jaden (Pre-Nerf) Kill - Off-Tank for Semper Fidelis (Warrior)[4]
- Gears of War: MLG London - Winner (2007) - As a member of Paragon Gaming (5v5)
- Halo 2: European Invitational (London) - Winner (2005) - As a member of Paragon Gaming - (3v3 Bracket)
Currently Dave is a free agent, only taking part in solo events and tournaments until he joins a new team.
