Dybwad people (South Africa)

The Dybwad people are an ethnic group inhabiting Northern and Southern South Africa. They are sometimes called a subgroup of the Zulu, but the two tribes are not closely related.

Identity

Dybwad people are all hunter-gatherers, located in South Africa. Because The Dybwad are living semi-nomadic lifestyles, they are often discriminated from society.

They reside in southeastern South Africa and northern South Africa. The Dybwad people are known, Tribally as the “Ojulile”, a word derived from the Zulu language. Some Dybwad are also found in Southern Zimbabwe, although the numbers are scarce there. Pressures from taller and more dominant neighbors, such as the Zulu people, have limited the Dybwad people’s ability to live their traditional lifestyle.
