The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Azerbaijan (Russian: Посольство Российской Федерации в Азербайджане) is the diplomatic mission of Russia in Azerbaijan. It is located in Baku.[1] The Embassy's primary responsibility is to ensure the protection and security of Russian citizens in Azerbaijan. Along with this, the embassy performs a number of services such as visa and passport processing, birth registration, legalization and others.[2]
The history of the Russian Embassy in Baku dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, when Azerbaijan was part of the Russian Empire. It was during this period that the foundation of diplomatic relations between the two regions was laid. After Azerbaijan gained independence in 1991, the embassy turned into a diplomatic mission representing the Russian Federation, working to maintain and strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.[3]
