Ennock Mlangeni (born 1991) is a South African born self-taught multidisciplinary visual artist. He became famous after a portrait he painted of Black Coffee (DJ) using coffee went viral.

Early Life and education[edit]

Ennock Mlangeni was born in Mamafubedu , Petrus Steyn in the Free State province of South Africa. After loosing both his parents at the age of 6, he moved to Sasolburg to live with his grandmother. Ennock attended his high school af Nkgopoleng Secondary in Zamdela. [1] He is known to use coffee granules and charcoal as one of his mediums to create his work.

Career[edit]

Ennock Mlangeni discovered his passion for art when he was in grade 6 and it was in 2014 where he started to take art seriously. His work is inspired by his life experiences and everything he has been through.[2] Ennock uses newspapers and waste materials to create his art.[3] He was inspired one day by coffee spilling on his art by mistake while working in his shack as it transformed his worked. [4]Ennock's most famous artwork is a portrait he painted of Black Coffee (DJ) , using coffee.[5][6] In 2021 Ennock was commissioned by South African award-winning rapper Cassper Nyovest, to transform his swimming pool into a work of art. He has since collaborated with Smeg appliances in the past and has painted famous personalities like Zozibini Tunzi and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.[7] In August 2020 during Covid19 he hosted his first international solo show at Uitstalling Art Gallery in Belgium .[8] In 2023 he launched his art stokvel .[9]
