George Daniel Rainer Tillman (February 8, 1830 - February 7, 1908) was a Democratic representative. He was originally born in Helen, Georgia but lived in South Carolina from a very early age. He became a member of the local government in Lexington, South Carolina, where he lived for 46 years from the ages of six to fifty-one years old. After moving to Columbia, South Carolina and introducing himself to important South Carolina politicians M. E. Carn and Plowden Weston, he became a South Carolina congressman in the House of Representatives, serving from 1879 to 1881.[1] He death of what is now believed to have been cancer in 1908,[2] less than two hours before turning seventy-eight.
