The Heemskerkgracht (IMO number: 9443669) is a cargo ship based in Amsterdam, flagged as Dutch, and, operated by Spliethoff.[1]
On 23 August 2024, the Heemskerkgracht lost power during a turn, and impacted on the sides of the channel of the Saint Lawrence Seaway,[NB 1] blocking the shipping canal on the southern margin of the Saint Lawrence River near Montreal, Quebec, Canada, just outside of Kahnawake. Heemskerkgracht was refloated the following day. The traffic would need 3 days to clear the backlog.[2]
