James Van Patten is an American actor, writer, and producer in the entertainment industry, and the second son of actor Dick Van Patten.[1] He recently co-starred in 7 Days to Vegas (2019) with his brother Vincent Van Patten, in a performance which the Chicago Sun-Times noted was played with "terrific comedic effect".[2]
Career[edit]
As an actor, Jimmy has appeared in over 40 motion pictures, including notable films such as "The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again" (1979), "Freaky Friday" (1976), "Roller Boogie" (1979), and "Life Stinks" (1991). He has also displayed his comedic talents in Mel Brooks' productions like "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" (1993). Jimmy has ventured into the horror genre as well, reprising his character of Dr. Heffner in several installments of the popular "SAW" franchise.
In television, Jimmy gained recognition for his early role as a reform school boy in the hit series "The Odd Couple" (1972-1974). He went on to star in the award-winning series "The Chisholms" (1980) and the comedy series "Poison" (1991). Jimmy has also made guest appearances on various television shows and mini-series.
In theater, Jimmy has showcased his talents in productions such as "Mr. Roberts," "Breakfast with Les and Bes," and "Harvey." He has toured with the critically acclaimed national tour of "The Sunshine Boys," performing in over 100 cities.
