Jhoom (Urdu: جھوم, lit. 'Swing') is a 2023 Pakistani drama television series produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi under the banner 7th Sky Entertainment.[1] The series was directed by Ali Faizan and written by Hashim Nadeem.[2] It aired from 12 May to 14 July 2023 on Geo Entertainment. It stars Haroon Kadwani and Zara Noor Abbas in lead roles.[3][4]
Plot
[edit]Aryaan, is a young and handsome boy who holds a caring and possessive nature towards his friends. Despite having a traumatic past, Aryaan tries to smile through the worries of life and never steps back from helping his friends.
However, Aryaan's life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Dr.Maryam, a compassionate and kind woman who becomes a ray of sunshine in his life. As their relationship begins to flourish, Aryaan feels a change in himself and embraces the love he had been deprived for so long.[5]
Despite the age difference between them, Aryaan and Maryam's love for each other knows no bounds and they embark on an unconventional journey together.[6] Their love defies societal norms and expectations, challenging the prejudices and biases of those around them. As their relationship progresses, their love is put to ultimate test.

Production
[edit]The first look of the series was released on 3 March 2023.[11] It aired bi-weekly episodes on Friday and Saturday at prime time i.e; 8:00 PM.[12]
Reception
[edit]Serial was in news prior to its release as Jhoom marks Kadwani's first serial as main lead protagonist.[13] It garnered positive reviews from critics and audience throughout its run for depiction of sensitive topic pertinent to mental health.[14] Zainab from "Galaxy Lollywood" praised the serial for highlighting the issue of age difference between a couple, awareness regarding mental health and not dragging the story.[15]
Youlin Magazine praised the show for it's ensemble cast and wrote, "Jhoom offers viewers an exciting journey through labyrinthine corridors of love, exploring themes of passion, heartbreak, patience and societal pressures. While the drama exhibits notable production quality, directorial execution is mediocre".[16] FUCHSIA praised the serial for its action sequences and delivery of social messages.[17]
