KFXM is the first station to be fully licensed in the United States in the 2023 FCC filing window. The station is operated by Urban Ingenuity, Inc, a federal nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. The station was fully licensed by the FCC and went on the air on February 29th, 2024, filed and received its license on March 7th, 2024. Prior to April 2023 the KFXM call letters were assigned to an organization operated for 10 years by the late Chris Compton in Lancaster, CA. The station went off the air due to the death of Compton. The original KFXM was in Beaumont Texas for nearly 6 years, and then KFXM (now KTIE). In San Bernardino, KFXM was a popular, number one rated , top 40 station at 590 kHz on the AM band in the Inland Empire from 1959 to 1985. The call letters also had a 3 year home at 103.3 FM in Temecula, CA.
The current KFXM 94.1 FM is the brainchild and being consulted by Mark Westwood who is also General Manager of KCAA 1050 AM, Loma Linda, an NBC Radio News Affiliate, and he is an employee of Broadcast Management Services. Westwood has no ownership in KCAA 1050 AM, Loma Linda. Mark Westwood is an LPFM , community Radio advocate, and is also known for founding and constructing KQLH 92.5 FM in 2015 in nearby Yucaipa. He has also assisted Rick Ruhl and R Squared Broadcasting in the construction of KSXS LPFM, known as X95.7 FM, a classic rock formatted LPFM. Westwood has also consulted with an LPFM in Midland, Michigan, and several others recently. He has worked closely with nationally known LPFM advocate Michelle Bradley of Recnet.com from the Washington D.C. area.

KFXM-LP (98.3 FM) was a low-power FM radio station broadcasting oldies from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. Licensed to serve Lancaster, California, United States, the station was owned by The Organization for the Preservation & Cultivation of Radio, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.[2] The station went on the air on October 4, 2004, at 96.7 FM and moved to 98.3 FM on March 1, 2017. KFXM-LP used the Channel 98 jingles of former (1958-68) Los Angeles top 40 station KFWB.
The original KFXM (now KTIE) was a top 40 station at 590 kHz on the AM band in the Inland Empire from 1959 to 1985.
In mid-September 2022, KFXM-LP experienced issues with their transmitter and their operating software and began playing a loop of songs by Paul Anka, Anne Murray, and the Bee Gees. In early October, KFXM-LP resumed normal broadcasting. Many 1980s-1990s songs were added to their playlist. On October 5, KFXM-LP went off the air. The station's request line and business phone numbers were disconnected. On April 24, 2023, the KFXM-LP Facebook page announced the death of Chris Compton, the owner of KFXM-LP. On April 26, 2023, KFXM-LP's broadcast license was surrendered to the Federal Communications Commission, who cancelled it the same day.
