The Kia PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle) is an electric vehicle platform used by Kia. It has already been used on multiple concept cars, and will be used on production vehicles in the future.
Applications[edit]
Concept Vehicles[edit]
At CES 2024, Kia unveiled seven concept cars, all using the PBV Platform.[1] The following lists the vehicles shown at the event.
- Kia PV1 Concept; an autonomous ultra-compact passenger van
- Kia PV3 Concept; a small passenger van
- Kia PV5 Concept; a mid-sized passenger van
- Kia PV5 Concept High-Roof; a high-roof cargo van
- Kia PV5 Concept Pickup; the pickup truck variant of the PV5
- Kia PV5-R Concept; a sportier version of the PV5
- Kia PV7 Concept; a large cargo van
Interchangeable Rear-Halves[edit]
At the unveiling, Kia also showed that the vehicles would have interchangeable rear-halves. This means you could get your van converted to a pickup truck by a machine that lifts the back of the vehicle off and replaces it with another. However, when the PV5 is launched 2025, it will not be swappable immediately.[2]
