Biography
[edit]Kiki Solvej is a German DJ, producer, and vocalist whose early exposure to music stemmed from participation in musicals, choirs, and forming bands during her childhood [1]. Kiki was raised in an environment filled with music. Her mother studied music and art aesthetics, while her father, a priest, constantly was surrounded by music [2].
During her academic journey, Kiki Solvej was driven by her passion in writing and pursued studies in German Language and education science studies at the University of Cologne. She successfully graduated from this program. During her studies she crafted several small-scale researches, reflecting on her aspirations and dream to become a professor and stay in research [3]
Career
[edit]From a young age, Kiki Solvej has been deeply involved in music, engaging in activities such as singing in musicals, composing songs, and delving into the music scene during her teenage years [4]. Since she was a young child, she loved to think about her own songs, even if she could not write them down yet. Later she developed a love for rap and writing rap songs. She was always deeply involved in music and its production, as mentioned in an interview with Mixmag Netherlands [5].
Transitioning from academia to pursue her long-held dream of a music career, Solvej found her way to the techno music scene. In 2021, she made her significant debut release on Reinier Zonneveld’s record label, Filth on Acid, with the “Deutsches Rave Mädchen” EP [6]. This release was well-received and noted in the streaming services, establishing her presence within the electronic music community. In 2024, she was named in FAZE mag’s ‘Der Grosse Jahrespoll 2023’ as one of the biggest international newcomers.
Kiki Solvej has traveled internationally for her performances, playing for large audiences worldwide. One notable event was her Bahamas live stream, which garnered over two million views, demonstrating her broad appeal and significant online presence [7]. Her set at Tomorrowland 2022 received accolades from several prominent figures in the electronic music community [8].
