Love Island (2015 TV series) Love Island (franchise) |
Love Island Malta is a Maltese dating reality show based on ITV's Love Island franchise. Following other versions of the Love Island format, the show features a group of single contestants, known as "islanders" who live together in a luxury villa that is isolated from the outside world, in an attempt to find love.
Throughout the series, the contestants "couple up" to avoid being dumped from the villa. Additionally, the Maltese vote for their favourite islanders via the Love Island Malta app[1]. As islanders are dumped from the villa, new islanders enter the villa, either as bombshells or as part of a twist. At the end of each season, the Maltese vote to determine the winning couple, who win a prize of €20,000.
Created by ITV Studios and produced locally by Media Exclusive Limited, the first season aired on PBS's flagship TVM channel and on the free video on demand streaming service TVMi in mid 2023[2], with the second season set airing in mid 2024[3]. The series is presented by Yazmin F. Helledie[4] with Chucky Bartolo narrating every season. Both seasons have been filmed and produced locally in local villas[5][6].
