Masoot (Qasimabad)

Masoot, also known as Qasimabad, is a village located in the Nagar District of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. This charming village, home to 92 households, is nestled in a mountainous region and is celebrated for its stunning natural landscapes. When viewed from the surrounding mountains, Masoot's layout strikingly resembles the shape of a whale fish.

A 5 km walk from the village takes adventurers to the Rakaposhi Base Camp, a gateway to one of the world’s most majestic peaks. Upper Masoot, particularly the area known as Neildar, offers the Eagle Nest View, where one can enjoy panoramic vistas spanning from Thole Valley to Chalt Valley.

Masoot is part of the Union Council of Ghulmate and belongs to Tehsil Nagar 2. The residents primarily engage in agriculture and livestock rearing, benefiting from the region's fertile terrain. The village has two primary schools—one for boys and one for girls—providing basic education to the local children.

Above Masoot lies the "Mother of Mist," a mystical area encompassing the valleys of Ghulmate, Thole, Hopy, Pisan, and Minapin. The village also hosts the Al Qaim Guest House, surrounded by a serene cherry garden, offering a peaceful retreat for visitors exploring the region's natural beauty.

The people of Qasimabad Masoot are known for their hospitality and strong community ties, often preserving and celebrating their rich cultural traditions through local festivals and events.
