Draft:Mina Bimbaša

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mina Bimbaša (Serbian Cyrillic: Мина Бимбаша) was one of many voivodes chosen by the Grand Vožd Karađorđe who headed the 1804 Serbian Revolution against the Ottoman Empire seeking emancipation for his people in the Balkans.[1]

Mina's surname has been erased by his title -- Bimbaša. Mina was awarded the military rank of Binbashi (commander of 1,000 men) and the Serbian title of voivode by Karađorđe for his brave services. After that, he was simply known as Mina Bimbaša, a leader who was totally focused on ridding the Turk from Serbian soil.[2][3]

Like all the great leaders in the First Serbian Uprising songs were written about him and his exploits.[4]
