"More Than Alive" is a song by electropop artist The Ready Set. It was released as the second single from his third studio album, I'm Alive, I'm Dreaming. The song premiered exclusively via Cambio on May 25, 2010.[1] An acoustic version of the song was included in his Christmas EP Regifted, released on November 26, 2010.[2]
"More Than Alive" was written by Jordan Witzigreuter and Matt Squire, while production was also handled by Squire.[3] Witzigreuter told JSYK.com that the song is about "doing what you want to do and living your life for yourself." He also stated that the song makes references to "speed limits, blowing through stop signs and just not holding back in life."[1] Speaking about the song in retrospect, he compared it to his 2014 single, "Higher", in the sense of it "being really positive."[4]
The Ready Set re-recorded a Simlish version of the song for The Sims 3: Late Night soundtrack.[5] The song was also featured in Dance Dance Revolution 2.[6] On November 26, 2010, the Ready Set released a digital EP titled, Regifted, which includes an acoustic version of "More Than Alive", as well as two Christmas songs, "Wishlist" and a cover of "Wonderful Christmastime" by Paul McCartney.[2]
A preview for the music video was teased on November 14, 2010.[7] The music video officially premiered on November 16, and was directed by Isaac Ravishankara.[8] The video starts off with Witzigrueter waking up in his bed and finds himself at an indoor party in his house. Soon after, the party gets weirder as time mysteriously stops and Witzigreuter gets sucker-punched.[9] Towards the end of the video, Witzigreuter leaves the house and enters a dark street, with "species of electro-people with C3PO eyes" waiting in the shadows and he eventually becomes one of them, struggling with his new identity.[10] The video continues the storyline from his previous music video of his first single, "Love Like Woe".[11]
