Neeraj Lalwani is an American radiologist and the current Editor-in-Chief of Abdominal Radiology, a journal specializing in abdominal imaging. He has contributed to academic radiology through his clinical expertise, research, and leadership roles in professional organizations.[1][2][3]

Early Life and Education

Lalwani was born in India and obtained his medical degree from the University of Rajasthan.[4] He later pursued specialized training in radiology, with a focus on abdominal imaging at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio. In 2024, he earned an MBA in Healthcare from the University of Colorado.[5]

Career

Clinical Practice

Lalwani began his radiology career in India before moving to the United States in 2009. He is board-certified in Diagnostic Radiology and specializes in gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary imaging, with an interest in advanced imaging techniques such as MRI.[6]

Academic Contributions

Lalwani has held academic appointments at several institutions and is involved in radiology education. He was recognized with the RSNA's Honored Educator Award in 2020[7] and the ARRS Figley Fellowship Award in 2019.[8]

Editorial Roles

As the Editor-in-Chief of Abdominal Radiology, Lalwani has implemented several initiatives to recognize excellence in research, including the Pinnacle Papers Award, Exemplary Editor Award, and Peer Review Excellence Awards. His editorial approach emphasizes inclusivity and diversity in the journal's publications.[9]

In addition, Lalwani curated the collection "Editor’s Invite: A Curated Collection of Pioneering Articles," highlighting research with practical relevance to radiology.[10]

In 2021, Lalwani authored MRI Pelvis, a book published by Elsevier, which provides insights into MRI techniques and applications in pelvic imaging.[11]
