Gameplay

[edit]

Nitro Type is a website to allow players to practice typing on a keyboard by competing against other players around the globe in real time. In Nitro Type, the player plays as a race car that can only move when you correctly type the text displayed. Players can compete in seasons and also earn Nitro Cash to buy more cars, titles, and stickers in the shop.

Players can also earn cars as a reward for completing a certain amount of races; for example, after completing 30,000 races players will obtain a "Wach 6" , which is inspired by the Mach 5 car. [1]

The game operates on a free-to-play basis, however many features of the game are not unlocked until a Gold Membership [2] is purchased. The site also runs ads until this is purchased for 9.99 USD. [[3]].

Reception

[edit]

The game received 3 out of 5 stars from Common Sense Education, who stated that the game gives players a "fun dimension to typing practice", but also states that the game's ads can be "intrusive."[2]

The Ed Tech Roundup [4] rated Nitro Type as "Outstanding" [5] stating that the "new teacher dashboard is great to see, and provides valuable insight for teachers on student progress" .

Community and culture

[edit]

Although Nitro Type is primarily designed as an educational typing game for school, Nitro Type is home to a community of competitive "Nitro Typists" that aim to collect cars and reach high amounts of races. This is fueled by Nitro Type Leagues and Teams. Many Nitro Typists also create and post content on YouTube channels. [6]
