The Royal Society of the Humanities in Lund[a] is a society with royal charter affiliated to Lund University. It was founded in 1918, by reason of the 250th anniversary of the university. The initiative of establishment was taken by Ewert Wrangel, professor of aesthetics. Consisting of departments for religious studies, jurisprudence, social sciences, linguistics and other sciences relating to the field, the society's purpose is to promote the science of the humanities and to conduct humanistic research.
