The SONSOL project (Support One Needy Student with One Laptop) is an initiative of the Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Professor Rita Akosua Dickson. It aims to support needy students with laptops to help them pursue their university education[1]. This project is available for level 100 to 300 students only, including students from the Institute of Distance Learning (IDL) and Obuasi campus. The laptops distributed so far were donated by distinguished personalities, corporate organisations, philanthropists, and Alumni of the University. These include Vodafone Ghana, Stanbic Bank, ABSA Bank, SIC, Jospong Group (Zoomlion), Tobinco Group of Companies and CBG.[2]
Eligibility[edit]
- One must be a Ghanaian student.[3]
- For new students, one is required o have a maximum WASSCE aggregate of 18.
- For continuing students, one needs to obtain a minimum Cumulative Weighted Average (CWA) of 55.00.
- The student should not be already benefitting from any other scholarship or bursary above GH¢2000.00.
