History San Jose Boulevard is surrounded by two Jacksonville neighborhoods being Mandrain and Loretto. The first ever photo taken from San Jose Boulevard is from 1938 and is a photo of the Mandrain baseball team. Back then it was a two lane road surrounded by woods and occasional gas stations. Major stores really started popping up in 1985 and the rest of the 80's and 90's. In the 80's stores like Publix's and Albertsons and others started popping up. In the 90's is when things really got big with shopping centers like Claire Lane Center and Court Yard Shopping Center and many others now hosting Publix, Barns & Noble, Whole Foods, Applebee's, AutoZone and many others. In the early 2000's things really went big with a Target being built in Court Yard Shopping Center and a Bealls being built. In the late 2010's and 2020's a downfall came and a increase came in. The downfall being Applebee's and Bealls closing and becoming abandoned and turning into places like Spirit Halloween and a Moe's Southwest Grill that was recently moved. The pros were that places like K- Mart which were abandoned are turning into chains like Home Depot and a Chick Fil A being built and another Chick Fil A later being built.
'Stores' San Jose Boulevard has had many stores over the years including Albertsons, Office Depot, Publix, Target, Walmart, Barns & Noble and many others. The stores do cause the four o'clock rush hour traffic but does not stop people from going to these stores. In fact many popular chains do well here but small ones don't do as well. To add on San Jose Boulevard has two library's on the boulevard and many churches and restaurants.
