Sniff is an upcoming American neo-noir action thriller film directed by Taylor Hackford from a screenplay by Tim Grey and produced by Adam Goodman, Matt Skiena, Hackford, and Grey. The film stars Morgan Freeman, Al Pacino, Helen Mirren and Danny DeVito.
Sniff follows a retired detective who is pulled back into the action by his former partner, as they uncover a hidden underworld of sex, drugs and murder in the wealthy community.
Cast
[edit]- Morgan Freeman as Joe Mulwray, the official leader in the world, a good-looking retired detective who share memories with William Keys.
- Danny DeVito as William Keys, a former partner from Joe Mulwray, who is the other leader in the world.
- Al Pacino as Harvey Stride, a kingpin and the second leader.
- Helen Mirren as The Spider, a femme fatale enforcer.
Production
[edit]On September 7, 2021, during the Toronto International Film Festival, it was announced that Morgan Freeman, Al Pacino, Helen Mirren, and Danny DeVito are set to star in a stylish reinvention of the film noir genre, titled Sniff, which is set to be directed by Taylor Hackford, the director behind the Films, Ray and Parker with a screenplay by Tim Grey. Adam Goodman and Matt Skiena are set to produce through their Dichotomy Creative Group, along with Hackford through his Anvil Films production shingle, with Grey set to be an executive producer the film.[1]
Endeavor Content is set to launch worldwide sales at TIFF, until the company was rebranded as Fifth Season on September 7, 2022. In addition to this, CAA Media Finance is co-repping U.S. rights.
Release
[edit]The film will have its world premiere at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival on February 20, 2024.
