Overview

Social Bite is a social enterprise based in Scotland, founded in 2012 by Josh Littlejohn and Alice Thompson. The organization aims to combat homelessness by providing employment opportunities, training, and essential support for homeless individuals. Social Bite operates several cafés that follow a "pay-it-forward" model, where customers can purchase food and drinks for themselves and those in need.

History and Growth

Social Bite began as a small sandwich shop in Edinburgh and has since expanded to multiple locations across Scotland, including Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Dundee. The cafés not only serve food but also employ individuals from homeless backgrounds, helping them reintegrate into society. In its first five years, Social Bite gained significant recognition, serving thousands of meals to homeless individuals.

Social Bite Academy

A significant part of Social Bite's mission is the Social Bite Academy, which provides skills training and employment support to homeless individuals. It will provide training and employment programmes for members of the Social Bite Academy, a four-year paid course for homeless people. The Academy has played a vital role in reducing homelessness in Scotland by empowering individuals to rebuild their lives.
